Conservation International Colombia was created in 1991 with the purpose of strengthening the institutional development of community and non-governmental environmental initiatives, supporting its activities and serving as an international point of contact. CI is aware that conservation does not mean isolating humans from the environment, which is why a sustainable coexistence between both is sought, through protecting places that we can not afford to lose because they give us our food, water and the air we breathe; work with governments to make sure they have the knowledge and tools to apply policies that are good, responsible and protect our natural wealth; promote sustainable production practices. In all its programs CI seeks to understand social issues, involve and empower communities to advance territorial planning projects, environmental planning of the territory, generation of community, economic, policy and regulatory instruments, and to generate scientific information to support the actions of management in prioritized sites.

Fondo Acción is a Colombian non-profit organization of the private regime, created in 2000 within the framework of the Bilateral Agreement of the Initiative for the Americas. Fondo Acción knows and believes in the power and creativity of the ideas that communities and their organizations have and how, with the support and technical and financial assistance, the way in which the world is inhabited can be transformed.

Thanks to a wide experience, Fondo Acción recognizes that investments in environment and childhood (education?) produce the best returns for our society and that is why the activity has been concentrated in these two areas. Fondo Acción builds innovative and high-value solutions on vital issues such as sustainable rural development, conservation, climate change, and the protection and development of children and adolescents, with an emphasis on early childhood.

EcoGourmet has different allies to promote the improvement of the quality of life of the fishermen of our coasts and the sustainability of the fishing resources.

Blue Action Fund and Conservation International through the project “Fishing for a prosperous future” work for the support of fisheries in, and around the marine protected areas of the ETPS (Marine Landscape of the Eastern Tropical Pacific). This three-year project (2018-2021) seeks to support the maintenance and improvement of sustainable fishing practices.

In the case of Colombia, we work with the EcoGourmet program, which seeks to promote a sustainable value chain that is fairer with the fisherman, more competitive for the trader and more sustainable for the environment.

In this alliance we work directly with fishermen’s associations in the Bahía Solano, El Valle, Coquí, Nuquí, Joví and Arusí communities, strengthening their institutional capacities in terms of good environmental, administrative and commercial practices, among others.

We invite you to know more in:

Grupo Prodeco and Conservation International opt for social intervention through associative strengthening and commercial chains through the EcoGourmet program. We promote a sustainable value chain for fishermen, restaurants and final consumers.

Through the EcoGourmet program, six associations of the Colombian Caribbean have intervened to strengthen them in administrative, accounting and good fishing practices. 5 in Ciénaga and 1 in Santa Marta.
